Muscular Dystrophy (MD) is a challenging and unforgiving disease. In most cases, it leads to progressive muscle weakness & wasting, lack of energy, weakness of heart and lung muscles, leading to early mortality. Unfortunately, along with physical challenges, patients with different types of muscular dystrophies are likely effected with stress induced psychological disorders like depression, anxiety, and host of other emotional challenges. These in turn play a part in exacerbating disease progression and worsens the quality of life.
In the last two decades, many peer reviewed scientific studies have identified "Stress" as a major contributing factor towards the progression of different types of diseases including MD.
Reducing “Stress” through Meditation:
According to world renowned Mayo clinic “Spending even a few minutes in meditation can restore your calm and inner peace. Meditation can produce a deep state of relaxation and a tranquil mind. Anyone can practice meditation. It's simple and inexpensive, and it doesn't require any special equipment.”
Few minutes of breathe-work and meditation can have a profound impact on the physiology by effectively lowering the stress hormone cortisol and adrenaline.
Recommendation: By adopting a daily breathe-work and meditation practice in conjunction with a super healthy diet and life style modifications can make a large positive impact on the physical, emotional and mental health and wellness.
